It began with a typical U-shaped kitchen well suited for a one-cook family. They loved the idea of simplicity in an entire wall of stainless appliances and cabinets. Two pantries with a sliding door storage system and deep drawers solved storage issues without resorting to upper cabinets. A French door refrigerator was added. Richard J. Farrell

The kitchen’s sleek modern design was incorporated into the overall eclectic mix of mid-century style that was prevalent throughout the home. This was achieved in part by using a dramatic mix of rich espresso and warm brandy stains on cherry cabinets, porcelain tile with random patterned glass mosaic backsplash, and countertops of granite tile and laminate.
