A high quality of tradesmanship is apparent throughout this architecturally designed home. Great attention to detail and high quality finishes add to the impressive result. The design addresses the extremes this residence must endure while still taking full advantage of the expansive views. The outdoor entertaining areas take full advantage of passive design and protect against the southerly and westerly winds. Internally, the crisp clean lines and extensive use of glass means an uninterrupted view of the water and provides a feeling of space and tranquility. A bold use of steel, glass and painted masonry give the home a unique visual impact. Mirvac Constructions Pty Ltd

According to the judges, this home is at the forefront of leading edge design and technology. Scott Salisbury Homes enjoys an enviable reputation as a leader in style and innovation. Some of the highlights of this home are the spectacular main façade with striking five-metre-high commercial grade windows to capture the views; the central ‘floating’ timber and glass staircase; an oversize off-set pivoting solid timber front door; a cavernous walk-in pantry and a light and airy central courtyard. The house also has minimal energy costs, with excellent cross ventilation and zoned light and air conditioning programming. The hot water system is powered by solar energy. Scott Salisbury Homes

This is one of Glenneagles finest and most successful projects. The challenge was to transform the existing run down home into four double-story townhouses that capitalise the lovely views of Menzies Park to the north. The townhouses are built side by side, on a sloping hill. Each town house is stepped up from the other, creating a terrace feel, whilst maintaining privacy. All townhouses have glass-screened top floor balconies allowing stunning park views, and rear courtyard fences providing direct access to the park. The whole development blends wonderfully into the streetscape, and each townhouse maximises space and light. The judges noted the quality of finishes, the workmanship and the development’s success in maximising views. Glenneagles Homes Pty Ltd
On the outside, the use of different materials, the picture framed windows and the natural colours give these townhouses a distinctive character and also help to blend them into the bush setting. Inside, one of the most impressive elements is the fully retractable sliding door which seamlessly merges the indoors with the covered outdoor deck. Another clever use of space is the laundry hidden under the stairs. Extensive eaves, double glazing, and cross ventilation design make each townhouse more energy efficient and the use of Koolwall in construction gives them an energy rating of R1.4 which is above current BCA requirements. Natural stone, timber and glass are used throughout these units to create a welcoming and warm ambience. The open feel is achieved through the use of high ceilings and large bi-fold doors opening onto private balconies that overlook the golf course. The units are wide and spacious and feature a mix of materials to create an interesting and attractive building. Solar access is excellent. Spa baths, European appliances, integrated sound and security complete the picture. The judges agreed that ‘these units are exceptionally high quality, with the best inclusions, well built and well designed’. Allpro Building Services Pty Ltd

This home gives a new meaning to ‘takeaway’. This is a style of project home that goes further than supplying a kit of building materials by providing a series of panels built in the factory, sized to fit into a container. It is remarkably simple to construct and can be delivered overseas. The result is an affordable, high quality product, which judges say is ‘exceptionally well built with high level attention to detail and finishes’. This home represents the perfect combination of indoor and outdoor living for the entire family and boasts high ceilings and good quality fixtures and fittings. Gateway Constructions Pty Ltd

This kitchen shows what can be achieved when there is a strong relationship between the designer and client. The result is a sleek, modern and inviting kitchen that has every item within easy reach and is well integrated into the living and dining areas. Many hours were spent making this a well thought out and exquisitely accomplished project. White gloss doors combined with iced snow benchtops create a strong yet subtle impact. The main feature of the kitchen is a large island bench, positioned adjacent to the outdoor entertaining area, which successfully integrates the indoor and outdoor living areas. Western Cabinets
