I Tavolini

Fri 06 2008

I tavolini comprise six individual pieces; three representative forms are provided here. The forms playfully juxtapose the tradition of tools and silverware with the textures and movement of flowing water. Each piece engages users with a new set of tactile and visual instructions based on form. I tavolini are designed to give the individual an opportunity to define the correct way to use each piece, with some pieces overlapping the function of traditional forks, knives, and spoons. Three Squared

Fri 06 2008

The innovative and contemporary design creates a sophisticated dining environment.  The plate, bowl and mug are proportionately arranged in a grid pattern forming a square place setting. When assembled, all three handles align vertically and function in a unique way to display and hold the flatware. Handles are fashioned to straddle the thumb while the remaining weight of the dish nestles in the palm of the hand. The pattern’s smooth lines are aesthetically appealing and add a touch of class to any dining experience. Laverne Theis from USA

Bubble

Thu 06 2008

What happens when the protective wrapper erodes the thing it was designed to protect? bubble wrap is a frozen, iconic, disposable policy; the protector of all things breakable. what if bubble wrap had an agenda? what would that be? true to this ideology, this crystal and china is uniquely malfatto in origin and execution. Each piece is uniquely ruined. Todo Design, Jorge Prado, Silva Ajemian from USA

Impression Crockery

Thu 06 2008

Ceramic bowl and spoon set. The dish allows the user to create your own dining space inline with developing user behaviour ever more present in 2015 where the dining area is more commonly found away from the table or any stable surface. ‘Create your own table’ Comprised of a single surface with the impression of a bowl and spoon formed in it.  The product still retains the tactile quality of traditional earthenware ceramics. These traditional hand made elements will become ever more important in a technology led mass consumerism lifestyle. Benjamin Hubert from UK

Musical Dining

Wed 06 2008

This table has a mechanism like a marimba. When you put objects on various points of it, you hear various sounds. For example you hear a high tone when you knock a short wooden bar and you hear a low tone when you knock a long wooden bar. Having dinner on this table will be transformed into a marimba playing experience. Fumiaki Goto from Netherlands

Lento

Tue 06 2008

Lento (‘slow’ in Italian), is a set of bakeware for preparing sourdough bread (Slowfood). The set enhances the experience of creating handmade home bread, like in the old days, in a long natural process. The combination of the materials; terracotta ceramics and silicone, allows the innovative contrast between tradition and progress, sealed against see-through, rigid vs. flexible .
